My research interests involve finding a suitable proxy for the reconstruction
of climate variability in Intra-American Seas during the late Holocene.
Controversies over the existence and persistence of the Atlantic Multidecadal
Oscillation (AMO) and the lack of any current paleo-proxy record quantifying
interannual variability in the region beyond the instrumental record highlight
the need for such work. My current research is focused on the assessment
of climate signal fidelity in an Atlantic species of massive coral that
has received minimal scientific exploration with respect to its ability
to record climate information in skeletal Sr/Ca and oxygen isotopic signals.
