When is the regional competition this year?

Where will the Spoonbill Bowl be held?
USF St. Petersburg Science & Technology building and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation building in downtown Saint Petersburg, FL.
How many teams can enter?
We can accommodate up to 12 teams for the regional competition based on budget and facility availability.
Can parents/public attend the event?
Absolutely, but lunch can only be provided for teams and volunteers. There are many restaurants in downtown St. Pete for guests who would like to attend.
Can a school enter more than one team?
Based on number of teams registered by deadline, notice will be given in November if more than one team will be allowed. This is on a first register, first serve basis.
Where can I find practice buzzer questions?
- The national website has sets of past questions, both buzzer and team challenge.
- Some buzzer questions are generated by team members and used during coaching sessions.
- Many oceanography texts have chapter review questions that can be adapted for buzzer and team challenge questions.
How do I become a volunteer for the event?
- Volunteers are needed for the event and responsibilities can be found on the national website, www.nosb.org. Volunteers are the backbone of the event and will receive an event day shirt as well as lunch.
- Volunteer training is provided prior to the event to learn roles and responsibilities.
