Orian is PhD student with a strong interest in the ecological applications of isotope and trace metal analyses in fishes.  Orian’s research to date has concentrated on non-lethal alternatives to otolith microchemistry to discern life history patterns of intensively fished species in the Gulf of Mexico.  Future applications will concentrate on condition as it differs across space and time.  Orian has extensive experience in both research and conservation projects, and has lived/worked in Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico and many other Caribbean islands.  After he graduates, Orian hopes to continue his academic career as a post-doc and eventually as a research professor in the field of marine ecology.
