Welcome to the Marine Spectrochemistry Laboratory within the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida. Research Focuses on dissolved organic material (DOM) in the aquatic environment - its chemical, photochemical, and fluorescence characteristics.  

We employ various methods to examine natural organic material in the marine environment, including: fluorescence via in situ techniques and excitation emission matrix spectroscopy (EEMS), high-energy laser fragmentation (HELF), total organic carbon analysis, HPLC, and capillary electrophoresis.
