DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

The following are the minimum requirements necessary to graduate from the University of South Florida with a degree in Marine Science (concentrations are available in Biological, Chemical, Geological, and Physical Oceanography, as well as Marine Resource Assessment)

Master of Science (M.S) in Marine Science

1. 32 semester hours of course work which includes core courses
   
2. A grade of "B" or better in each of the core courses: Physical, Chemical, Biological and Geological Oceanography
   
3. A written thesis and successful oral defense

Doctoral Degree (Ph. D.) in Marine Science

1. 90 semester hours beyond the baccalaureate degree
   
2. A grade of "B" or better in each of the core courses
   
3. Passing performance on a comprehensive qualifying written and oral examination
   
4. A written dissertation and successful oral defense
