DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
The following are the minimum requirements necessary to graduate from the University of South Florida with a degree in Marine Science (concentrations are available in Biological, Chemical, Geological, and Physical Oceanography, as well as Marine Resource Assessment)
Master of Science (M.S) in Marine Science
- 32 semester hours of course work which includes core courses
- A grade of "B" or better in each of the core courses: Physical, Chemical, Biological and Geological Oceanography
- A written thesis and successful oral defense
Doctoral Degree (Ph. D.) in Marine Science
- 90 semester hours beyond the baccalaureate degree
- A grade of "B" or better in each of the core courses
- Passing performance on a comprehensive qualifying written and oral examination
- A written dissertation and successful oral defense
