Research Interests: Marietta's research constitutes determining baseline data of radionuclides in mangrove sediments. Her primary study sites are within marine protected areas in the island of Puerto Rico. The Vieques National Wildlife Refuge and the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve are two federally managed reserves that have been included in our research.

Research Topics: Management of coastal environments in tropical environments, policy aspects of marine protected areas, and educational and outreach aspects.
