4th & 5th Grade Teachers!

The MS PHD’S CCEMP pilot project will provide us with a wonderful new opportunity to partner with six 4th and 5th grade teachers from Lealman Avenue, Clearview Avenue, Rawlings, as well as other Pinellas County Elementary Schools in an effort to increase underrepresented minority students’ exposure to Earth system science.
The overall goal of the MS PHD’S CCEMP is to provide underrepresented minority 4th and 5th graders with some of the basic knowledge needed to pursue advanced studies and careers in the Earth system sciences.
Participating MS PHD’S CCEMP teachers will:
- participate in a MS PHD’S CCEMP orientation and training institute;
- be provided with assistance in customizing science education digital library teaching and learning materials that address the Florida Sunshine State Standards;
- receive $500 vouchers to purchase Earth system science-related instructional materials;
- receive virtual and on-site support in implementing related classroom activities; and participate in 2007-2008 MS PHD’S CCEMP activities on the USF SP campus.
