Understanding the Profile of Tampa Bay Aquatic Quality

A new science education program for in-service teachers to further educate the Tampa Bay area community through environmental science instructional, training and learning activities

New Dates!: July - August 2008

Times: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Designed for Pinellas, Manatee and Hillsborough counties 4th and 5th grade teachers
  • Summer short course that includes hands-on learning opportunities with environmental scientists and educators
  • Water quality kits, field guides, curriculum activities, environmental biogeochemical analysis, GPS and GIS training provided
  • Customized curriculum design using national science education digital libraries
  • Enhanced knowledge about Tampa Bay’s natural resources
  • Certificate of completion awarded to those who successfully complete all short course activities
  • Graduate credit and continuing education opportunities available
  • Classroom field trip support and individual classroom consultations available during the 2008-2009 school year
  • Opportunity to participate in 2008 UPTAQ Earth Day activities at USF St. Petersburg
  • Teams of teachers from the same school are preferred
  • Curriculum preparation consultation opportunities (optional)
