| RESEARCH AT
THE COLLEGE OF MARINE SCIENCE
The
primary mission of the College of Marine Science is to conduct basic
and applied research in ocean science. We not only engage the traditional
fields of biology, chemistry, geology, and physics to study the
marine realm, but view interactions with the adjoining land mass
and the overlying atmosphere as critical components in modern and
past oceans. Finally, our faculty, research staff, and graduate
students are fully committed to interdisciplinary science and are
striving to define new collaborative intellectual relationships
that lead to new discoveries.
Research at the College of Marine Science is divided into 4 broad
disciplines. Each discipline maintains its own pages with more specific
information about its faculty, students and staff. More information
on these research areas can be found by clicking on the following

Centers & Partners
In addition to academic research pursuits, the College of Marine
Science works in conjunction with the Center for Ocean Technology (COT) to develop new sensors and technology.
A leader in microtechnology research, COT provides our faculty and
students the opportunity to mix pure science with applied science.
The College of Marine Science also maintains strong partnerships
with federal and state agencies. The United States Geological Survey
Center for Coastal & Watershed Studies is located less than a mile from our campus. On the
state level, we share land and facilities with the Florida Marine Research Institute. To see a complete listing of The College
of Marine Science's Partners and Centers, click the links below.
