Great news! On June 18th 2010, the Marine Science Postdoctoral Association (MSPA) hosted its first Postdoctoral Fellow & Research Staff Summer Colloquium.
In case you don’t know, the MSPA was founded this year by Kim Pause Tucker and Eric Montie. The intention of the group was to provide professional career development workshops, host Friday seminar speakers, provide information about grant writing workshops and teaching opportunities, and initiate funding opportunities for postdoctoral scholars.
The goal of the colloquium on June 18th was to introduce the postdoctoral scholars and research staff to the community. Scholars and staff from physical, chemical, and biological oceanography highlighted their research. For more information on the talks presented, please see the colloquium schedule and the abstract of talks.
We hope that this colloquium will be an annual event. And we thank Dean Hogarth for all his support. On behalf of the MSPA, have a great and productive summer!
