Ciertamente super\u00f3 mis expectativas, conocer toda la mec\u00e1nica de trabajo y colaborar de conjunto con cient\u00edficos de alto rango a nivel internacional ha sido una de las mejores experiencias de mi vida.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What were your expectations leading into the cruise? Scientifically? Collaboratively?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I was hoping to learn a lot during my stay in the WeatherBird II and of course I did. Certainly it was beyond my expectations, to know all the work procedure and to collaborate with internationals high range scientists had been one of the greatest experiences in my life.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 era lo que m\u00e1s esperaba durante el crucero?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sin dudas lo m\u00e1s esperado era experimentar la navegaci\u00f3n en alta mar y el trabajo abordo.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What were you most looking forward to during the cruise?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Without any doubts the thing I was more excited about was to experiment the navigation and life at deep waters, and to work on board.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 m\u00e1s le sorprendi\u00f3 mientras trabajaba a bordo? \u00bfCon el trabajo? \u00bfCon la ciencia?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lo m\u00e1s sorprendente de todo el viaje fue el trabajo en equipo, todos tuvimos arduas jornadas con poco descanso, creo que esa es la base para poder hacer ciencia de calidad, las relaciones humanas son un puntal en este sentido y todo el equipo demostr\u00f3 alto nivel de responsabilidad, profesionalidad y m\u00e1s que nada hermandad.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What surprised you most while working on board? With the work? With the science?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The most surprising thing was the team work; every one of us had long days and journeys of hard work with short time to rest, in my opinion that\u2019s the main basis for to do high quality science. Humans relationship play a paramount role on this tasks and the whole team showed responsibility, professionalism and more than anything brotherhood.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RIQNdR6eVRc\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo fue el estar cerca de la tierra, pero en aguas profundas, cambiar su perspectiva del oc\u00e9ano?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No cambi\u00f3 mi perspectiva del oc\u00e9ano, solo corrobor\u00f3 &nbsp;la que siempre tuve, el vasto oc\u00e9ano es el mayor tesoro de nuestro planeta y admirarlo uno de los m\u00e1s grandes placeres.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How did being close to land, but in deep water, change your perspective of the ocean?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It did not change my perspective of the ocean; in fact it confirmed what I always thought. The ocean is our biggest treasure and to admire it one of our biggest pleasures. &nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfCambi\u00f3 su visi\u00f3n del Golfo de M\u00e9xico mientras trabajaba con cient\u00edficos estadounidenses?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La visi\u00f3n cambi\u00f3 ciertamente, ahora aprecio m\u00e1s el valor natural de nuestro Golfo. El trabajo en conjunto con cient\u00edficos estadounidenses me hizo percatarme de cu\u00e1n importante es la colaboraci\u00f3n entre pa\u00edses y cient\u00edficos vecinos para lograr una mejor protecci\u00f3n y comprensi\u00f3n de nuestros ecosistemas. Juntos estaremos siempre mejor preparados para lograr aprovechar al m\u00e1ximo y de manera sostenible nuestros recursos.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Did your view of the Gulf of Mexico change while working with American scientists?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>It changed indeed. Now I appreciate much more the natural value of our Gulf. To work with American scientists made me to realize how important collaboration between neighbors countries and scientists is to protect and to understand better our ecosystems. Together we\u2019ll be able and more prepare to use our natural resources in a sustainable way. &nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfCu\u00e1l fue el momento m\u00e1s memorable?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El d\u00eda de clases. Expresi\u00f3n de unidad en su m\u00e1xima potencia.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What was your most memorable moment?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Class day. Union in a superlative expression.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 cosas nuevas aprendiste a bordo?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A utilizar el multicorer (y todo lo referente al procesamiento de las muestras de sedimento), a preparar anzuelos, a utilizar el CTD, a mejorar mi ingl\u00e9s, cuestiones de seguridad, a disfrutar de la comida for\u00e1nea (gracias a Tracy), la vida en el mar, a marcar tiburones\u2026\u2026 etc., etc., etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What new things did you learn while on board?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Almost everything. To use the multicore (including everything about the samples processing), to prepare hooks, to use the CTD, to improve my English, safety first, to enjoy foreign food (thank you Tracy!), life at the sea, to tag sharks\u2026.. etc. etc. etc.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 crees que significa esta colaboraci\u00f3n para el futuro del Golfo?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Es invaluable, incalculable. El futuro del Golfo est\u00e1 en gran medida en nuestras manos, juntos somos m\u00e1s fuertes. Cuba + EEUU + M\u00e9xico = 1.<\/p>\n<p>Que sea solo la primera de muchas m\u00e1s! Estamos listos!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What do you think this collaboration means for the future of the Gulf?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<em>It is invaluable. The future of the Gulf is in our hands, together we are stronger. Cuba + EEUU + M\u00e9xico = 1.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Hopefully, this was just the first one among many others!
