These stations will provide robust calibration points in COMIT\u2019s area of interest and provide valuable data for various research purposes, including ocean circulation modeling and seafloor motion monitoring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The team have:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Conducted <strong>extensive shore testing<\/strong> to evaluate the power consumption, telemetry capabilities, and <strong>performance of the GNSS antennas<\/strong> and tilt sensors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Incorporated a <strong>horizontal component<\/strong> to position by adding a <strong>second GNSS antenna<\/strong> to provide full orientation information, enhancing the accuracy of position measurements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tested different configurations to address <strong>multipath interference<\/strong>, ensuring <strong>reliable GNSS data<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Evaluated multiple manufacturers<\/strong> to select the most durable antennas for long-term deployment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Integrated a <strong>tilt sensor<\/strong>, <strong>bottom pressure mount<\/strong>, and <strong>ADCP<\/strong> to collect data for <strong>ocean circulation model verification<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Successfully poured a <strong>75,000-pound anchor<\/strong> for the ballast, the final piece of preparation for deployment of the spar buoy.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <strong>spar buoy is scheduled for deployment in 2024<\/strong>, pending availability from the offshore service provider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.marine.usf.edu\/comit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/anchor-cross-section.png&#8221;
