At the end of January, USF CMS associate professor\u00a0Dr. Alastair Graham<\/span><\/a>, departed on the US icebreaker\u00a0Nathanial Palmer<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0for the Amundsen Sea, home to the so-called \u201cDoomsday Glacier\u201d called the Thwaites Glacier. Thwaites, the size of Florida, has been in the news lately because it appears to be thinning rapidly \u2013 faster than originally predicted \u2013 and could account for a significant portion of sea level rise around the world. Graham will be aboard until late March 2020.<\/p>\n
