Project Oceanography

A live television program designed for middle school students and teachers. Each program series included a Teacher Packet of lesson plans to support the marine science topic for the week.

Volcanoes of the Deep Sea IMAX film

We designed the Teacher’s Guide and supportive educational video that accompanied the IMAX film released in 2003. Support was provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

OCEANS Teaching Fellowships (Formerly GK-12)

These fellowships provided opportunities for graduate students to serve as scientists in K-12 classrooms. The fellows were trained on current trends and practices in science education. They developed inquiry-based instructional skills, enhanced teaching skills, and strategies to effectively communicate scientific concepts to a broad array of audiences.

Making Waves

This NSF-funded program generated six teacher magazine articles written by USF College of Marine Science graduate students about ocean science topics (Interactive Teacher and Science Scope). Each article referenced web-based curricular exercises for teachers to use in their classrooms.
