Celebrating 10 Years of Marine and Coastal Fisheries

Bethesda, MD - The idea for Marine and Coastal Fisheries: Dynamics, Management, and Ecosystem Science resulted from a collaboration between the American Fisheries Society’s Marine Fisheries and Estuaries sections. The open access, online-only journal launched in 2008 and published its first article in January 2009; it’s 10 years old and growing!

This selection of 10 handpicked articles spanning the journal’s first 10 years celebrates a focus on original and innovative research. The articles identify and address challenges in population dynamics, assessment techniques and management approaches, human dimensions and socioeconomics, and ecosystem metrics, with the aim to improve marine, coastal, and estuarine fisheries science and management. The research is diverse, ranging from single-species age and growth studies to ecosystem modeling and stock assessments for forecasting sustainable fisheries.

Congratulations to Dr. Steven Murawski and Dr. Ernst Peebles for the paper that they co-authored being selected in the top 10 for the past decade by the journal Marine and Coastal Fisheries
