October 2008 - Girl Scout Marine Science and Technology Workshop
Thirty Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts from the West Central Florida Council participated in a full day of marine science discovery at the Girl Scout Marine Science and Technology Workshop organized by Mya Breitbart, Ali Hudon, and Kim Pause from the USF College of Marine Science.
May 2008 - Research Priorities and Collaboration Workshop
Over 70 representatives from federal, state, and local agencies attended the workshop to discuss current and future research priorities and collaboration with the College of Marine Science. A reception followed the workshop.
May 2008 - Faculty and Staff Softball Game
The CMS "Hammerheads" were victorious in both games at the Softball Event. The scores were 9-8 against the St. Pete Campus Wharf Rats and 25-4 against Tampa IT. Go "Hammerheads"!
May 2008 - Outstanding Staff Awards-2007
CMS is proud to announce that Barbara Daugherty (shown on left) Fiscal & Business Assistant for the college and Anita Thompson (shown on right) from Sponsored Research received Outstanding Staff Awards for the year 2007.
April 2008 - Staff Outing - Caladesi Island
The staff enjoyed a day of education and fun exploring Caladesi Island . The staff enjoyed a ferry ride to the island, a nature walk in the interior of the island, and lunch at the Pavillion. Thanks to Dr. Al Hine, the staff learned about the geologic history of Florida and the barrier island.

The two day event had 5 guest lecturers including : Robert Bindschadler: "Some Like it Hot - But Not Ice Sheets",
Kate Moran: "The Cenozoic Arctic Ocean revealed through drilling at the North Pole", John Farrell: "A Dramatic Year in the Arctic", Dan Costa, "Animals as Polar Oceanographers: Using Animals to Define and Describe Their Habitat",
and Greg Holloway, "What's New in Physics for this IPY? 1) Observing, 2) Computing, 3) Ideas".
Nov 2007 - Alumni Reunion and Faculty Retirement
Alumni, faculty, staff, and friends came together for the two day event that included an evening social at the Pier Aquarium, posters displays, open lab visits, a roof top luncheon, an alumni symposium and a Caribbean dinner on the peninsula. Alumni Reunion Photos and Videos
