Under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Endangered Species Acts there have been priorities set for management plans, namely the periodic or permanent closure of areas where spawning aggregations occur and\/or where bycatch of organisms such as sea turtles is high. This has allowed us to almost double the amount of multibeam data available for the WFS and bring the total coverage closer to 6%. Our findings, reports, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marine.usf.edu\/scamp\/publications\">publications <\/a>are available on this site in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marine.usf.edu\/scamp\/data-products\">map downloads<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCJFOxZXAuj3NIEvM0Xs4Gig\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">videos<\/a>, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/scampgis.marine.usf.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interactive GIS portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Though the West Florida Shelf is heavily utilized in terms of\u00a0its abundant fisheries, much of it remains un-mapped and poorly characterized.
