href=\"https:\/\/www.epchc.org\/\">Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County<\/a> (EPCHC) for a three-year project (12\/3\/2025 to 12\/2\/2028) examining contaminants in sediments, oysters, and recreationally harvested fish in McKay Bay and the lower Palm River.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-2 fusion-flex-container has-pattern-background has-mask-background nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div justify;\">We call this study <b>McKay Bay TRACE<\/b> \u2013 <b>T<\/b>argeted <b>R<\/b>esearch and <b>A<\/b>ssessment of <b>C<\/b>ontaminants in the <b>E<\/b>stuary (official name: <i>Impacts of Chemicals of Emerging Concern (CECs) on Fishes and in Sediments of Hillsborough and McKay Bays, Tampa Bay, Florida<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>McKay Bay<\/b> and the <b>Palm River<\/b> are located in a <b>heavily urbanized and industrialized area<\/b> at the northeastern end of Hillsborough Bay. Previous studies have identified pollutants in the area\u2019s sediments and fish tissues, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and metals.
