Mya Breitbart
I am a Distinguished University Professor at the University of South Florida College of Marine Science. I earned my Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Dr. Forest Rohwer at San Diego State University in 2006 and my B.S. in Biological Sciences from Florida Institute of Technology in 2000. In addition to being passionate about microbiological and genomic research, I am a strong proponent of scientific outreach, especially aimed at enhancing scientific accessibility and increasing the number of women in STEM fields. My faculty profile and CV can be found here. When I’m not doing science, I’m happiest near, in, or under the water (in that order of preference). I’m an avid nature photographer and can often be found playing with my dog Riley and cat Misty.
