Meet TREVOR

Crowd the Bay
Crowdsourced bathymetry has come into focus across the world for the last several years as an effective, but untapped, method of collecting depth data in areas that are inaccessible, under-prioritized, or are highly dynamic. We are developing a pilot CSB program in Tampa Bay with hopes to expand it state-wide after this proof of concept.
TBBEx
The Tampa Bay Bathymetry Experiment, or TBBEx used four different survey methods to collect data on seafloor bathymetry and coastal land elevations in the western portion of Tampa Bay. COMIT scientists tested a combination of sensors and platforms to determine best and most efficient ways for surveying these areas which are prone to sea level rise and climate change impacts.
Hydrography Concentration @ CMS
Hydrographers in the College of Marine Science conduct research related to seafloor mapping from nearshore areas to regions deep in the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. They use innovative acoustic, optical, and other remote sensing tools aboard crewed and uncrewed platforms to measure and map bathymetry and other seafloor characteristics.
Student Experiences
COMIT students have been generously documenting field experiences throughout their time in grad school in blog form. We also have many other posts on the other conference and field experiences our students have completed in recent years.
